Product Description

Aminophylline is the ethylenediamine salt of theophylline. Theophylline stimulates the CNS, skeletal muscles, and cardiac muscles. It relaxes certain smooth muscles in the bronchi, produces diuresis, and causes an increase in gastric secretion.

How Aminophylline Works

Aminophylline is the ethylenediamine salt of theophylline. After ingestion, theophylline is released from aminophylline, and theophylline relaxes the smooth muscle of the bronchial airways and pulmonary blood vessels and reduces airway responsiveness to histamine, methacholine, adenosine, and allergen. Theophylline competitively inhibits type III and type IV phosphodiesterase (PDE), the enzyme responsible for breaking down cyclic AMP in smooth muscle cells, possibly resulting in bronchodilation. Theophylline also binds to the adenosine A2B receptor and blocks adenosine mediated bronchoconstriction.

FAQs

Salius Pharma supplies Aminophylline as a bulk API customized to meet regulatory requirements and market demand across African countries. All products meet WHO-GMP standards and come with complete regulatory documentation.

Aminophylline is widely used as a bronchodilator for managing asthma, chronic bronchitis, and COPD. It helps relieve airway obstruction by relaxing bronchial muscles and improving breathing in patients with respiratory diseases common in this region.

Due to the hot and humid climate of African region, Salius Pharma advises storing Aminophylline between 15–30°C in a dry, shaded place to maintain its stability. Reconstituted formulations should be tightly sealed and used within 7 days to ensure potency.

Salius Pharma ensures regulatory compliance by offering all essential documents including WHO-GMP certification, Drug Master File (DMF), Certificate of Analysis (CoA), and country-specific dossiers to support smooth registration with health authorities.

Yes, Aminophylline has a narrow therapeutic window and may interact with drugs such as caffeine, beta-blockers, and certain antibiotics. Monitoring blood levels is advised to avoid toxicity, and healthcare providers should be consulted before combining therapies, especially in African region where herbal supplements are commonly used.
